Stitch and Bitch General Information *Currently On Hold*
If you are interested in leading Stitch and Bitch please email us at [email protected].
For centuries women have gathered around needle crafts to bond and create. W.E.L.L. honors that tradition with a variety of stitching circles dubbed with feminist Debbie Stoller's hip label "Stitch n' Bitch". We meet in both Metairie and New Orleans to knit, crochet, cross-stitch, sew, embroider, and the like. You're invited to come try your hand at knitting or crochet, as we have ready and willing teachers for both of those crafts at each meeting. Other attendees may know other crafts and be willing to share their knowledge-if you are such a person, please email the S&B leaders and let them know your craft and that you'd be willing to teach.
Groups are currently ages 18 and older. For groups aged 17 and younger, please check our Y.E.L.L. (Youth Empowered and Loving Life) programs.
Stitch and Bitch can also be found on Raverly! Check us out HERE! *A login is required but it’s free!*

Caring With Every Stitch
As with many W.E.L.L. programs, our S&B groups have an underlying focus for helping women in our communities. While our meetings are about having fun, making new friends, and crafting nifty items, we also donate once a year to the Pink Slipper Project.
The inspiring and crafty Joyce Lucas created a group in Virginia that makes slippers for women and children going into shelters. They collect supplies, stamps, and hand-made slippers to donate to those in need of extra care. Annually our Stitch and Bitch groups donate slippers we spent the year making. Attendees do NOT have to make slippers, but we do provide supplies and patterns for making slippers at each S&B meeting if anyone feels so led. Slippers are collected each year and sent to the Pink Slipper Project in October to coordinate with Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
